No Limit Records veteran, Mia X can whip the pots just as hard as she can rock the mic. Proof is in black and white. The southern hip-hop icon and curator of the #teamwhipdempots hashtag has released her long awaited cookbook memoir, Things My Grandma Told Me, Things My Grandma Showed Me.
I was stupid a few times in my life and Mamaw would be there to scold and comfort me at the same time. Two grown children later, many laughs, tears of joy, pain, lovers, accomplishments, and losses, I decided to share my experiences, some of her recipes for that mouthwatering food, and thought-provoking wisdom because she indeed loving, strong, and unique.
I also hope that I might inspire families to cook, converse, and bond. Sometimes, it seems like we are working so hard, living so fast, trying to keep the bills paid and trying to chase our dreams until we forget about the most important thing, Family.

I’ve been a Mia X fan since childhood. I remember my mom used to turn the television volume up as loud as possible every time the video for “What’cha Wanna Do” featuring Charlie Wilson came on BET. I’ve been following Mia on social media since I joined Instagram and Twitter about 7 years ago. So I’ve really been anticipating the release of this cookbook. After all, I am “The Hip-Hop Foodie”. The gap being bridged between Hip-Hop and food is what I’m all about.
I recently learned that Mia’s publicist was someone that I’ve known all of my 6 years of being in Atlanta and have a close business networking relationship with. When I found out that Things My Grandma Told Me, Things My Grandma Showed Me. was released. I hit up Mia’s publicist, Cherrell to meet Mia the next time she was in Atlanta.
I had the pleasure of hitting the studio for the filming of CashColorCannabis last night (08/28/18), where I got to meet Mia and get a signed copy of the new cookbook memoir.
This is awesome!
