Rapper Boosie Badazz made a post on his Instagram account Thursday, March 22, 2018, to boycott Black Beach Weekend in Biloxi, Mississippi. The boycotting is because of an incident where Boosie was pepper-sprayed by a theft prevention agent at Dillard’s at Edgewater Mall on Sunday, April 9, 2017.
Three people who Biloxi police said were associates of Boosie were arrested. However, Boosie was not arrested. He did claim that Biloxi police stole more than $1 million in jewelry from him. The jewelry was later returned to Boosie’s lawyer.
Promoters of Black Beach Weekend are not happy with Boosie’s decision to boycott and have decided to boycott him in return.
For so many years Promoters in the Biloxi/Gulfport area have supported @officialboosieig by booking him and playing his records just like many promoters across the country, tho we definitely do not agree with how He or his Entourage were handled by law enforcement, City of Biloxi or @dillards security last year. Our event is promoted solely by black businessmen and women some of which have booked and paid Boosie to perform and host multiple times. By request of many of our followers we will NOT play Boosie at any of our official events and we ask all Coast promoters, clubs and DJs to follow suit. Black Businesses and the black community on the MS Coast are directly affected and offended. Boosie your fight is not with Black Beach Weekend, your fight is with Dillard’s and the city of Biloxi.
