Pap3r Talks About His Start in Music,
Music Video with His Son,
and New Project, Eviction Notice

Coming from a father that was a DJ, Alabama veteran, Pap3r has been around music all of his life. He learned at a young age to turn his feelings into music. Making music came from having a lot of built up anger due to certain situations that occurred in his household.

I felt I couldn’t talk to anyone about my problems because it was embarrassing to me. So I started to write my feelings on paper to release pressure.

Hanging around his older cousin and his cousin’s friends, he picked up free-styling as a hobby and became determined to turn his feelings into lyrics. From making lyrics sound good to a beat and figuring that chemistry out, it turned into his way of venting. So it wasn’t just music, it was his outlet and stress reliever.

One day in 7th grade, my music teacher, Joseph Stancer heard me rapping and told me to meet him in the band room that following Saturday morning at 8am. I instantly thought I was in trouble and had to attend Saturday school, but that wasn’t the case. He told me that he was a music producer and wanted me to get in the studio and record. So the first time I ever recorded was on school campus when I was 12 or 13. I recorded 5 songs that day.

He is currently gearing up to release his next project, Eviction Notice.

1. What made you title this project Eviction Notice?

I was originally going to put out a project that I had already put together titled Never Forget Loyalty after my label N.F.L Ent. But I was headed home one day and when I made it there it was an actual Eviction Notice on my door in real time. As I proceeded to snatch the notice off my door out of nowhere I just kept repeating in my head Eviction Notice On My Door Gotta Get My Hustle On. So instead of me going to the spot to hustle, my car led me straight to the studio and I went to putting those emotions on wax. After I listened to the playback I refused to leave with just that one song. I ended up staying in the studio that night and came out with a full project. I felt it was only right to name it Eviction Notice since that was what inspired it.

2. What’s your favorite song on this project and why?

I actually love the whole project and can play it on repeat, song for song. It is full of emotions and everything that I was going through at that point in my life. Songs such as Eviction Notice, Emotions, How To Love, etc. But I have to say my favorite is Stunting Like My Daddy because that song features my 6 year old son. He walks around the house freestyling and beating on everything screaming, “daddy I’m going to do music just like you.” So I took him to the studio and we did a song together which was his first song done on wax and I’m actually dropping the project on his birthday with a video to the song that we have together so with that being a special moment in my life and his. That is hands down my favorite song on the project and his official introduction into professional music.

3. What was your thought process when recording this project?

Just like all my projects, my thought process really just flows off of what I am experiencing in life during that time frame. During this time I was goin through hurt, betrayal, and struggle. A lot of my people being locked up, just a lot of ups and downs which kind of brings out great music due to the emotional roller coaster ride. I really give my fans a true piece of me. Something a lot of people really can relate to and use to get them through what they going through in life and lets them know that they not alone.

4. What’s the difference between this project and your last project?

There is a big difference because my last project was actually a surprise birthday gift to my girl. I titled it Nicole after her and released it on her birthday. It was also my first ever R&B project. It was meant for females and couples to vibe to in good energy. The finishing project came out great and the cover is in the form of a gift wrapping. She cried when she heard it and the fans loved it. From females to males. I actually surprised myself with that one because I stepped out of my comfort zone. It brought out my full artistry and let me know it ain’t no limit to how far I can go with this music. It’s really in me, not on me. Which kind of carried into this project because on this project (Eviction Notice). I’m humming and rapping. It allowed me to fill this project with more emotions. It’s like it elevated me to constantly better my craft and pushed me to higher limits.
