The talented 44 year old Nicole of Reform, Alabama has opened her own bakery, Humble Beginnings Bakery & Eatery.

When did you become interested in baking and decorating? Any childhood cooking interest? Was it always baking or were you interested in savory at first?

I began baking in 2015 when I was laid off from my job. With newfound free time, I explored hobbies and discovered a passion for baking.

Did you have any culinary training like school or classes? Are you self taught?

I am a self-taught baker, learning from resources like YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest.

When did you start to take things serious? What made you take it serious? How did it come about?

As I started sharing more of my work in 2016, I received increasing orders, motivating me to elevate my baking.

Are you fully self employed? If so, how was the transition?

I juggle a full-time job (8-5) alongside full-time baking.

What has been greatest reward since going into business?

Creating my customers’ visions and witnessing their happiness upon receiving their items is truly fulfilling.

What has been the greatest challenge?

Balancing a full-time job with running a bakery poses my greatest challenge. I remain steadfast in my belief that one day I will run my bakery full-time, relying on God’s promises.

What has been the highlight of your culinary career so far?

The most rewarding aspect of my career is meeting different people and bringing their visions to life, whether on a cake or another canvas.

Humble Beginnings Bakery & Eatery offers a diverse range of food, from sweet to savory. I chose this name because, despite humble beginnings, I trust in God’s plan to grow this venture into a chain.
